Liverpool midfielder Emre Can held first training with the team before the second leg against Villarreal from the semifinals of the Europa League. The German international has not played since the famous 4: 3 against Borussia Dortmund in the same tournament when he got an ankle injury.
Team manager Jürgen Klopp is still not fully confident in the recovery of the supporting midfielder, so will evaluate his condition in the coming days.
Liverpool needs to catch liability 0: 1 after the first leg against Villarreal, but the stakes are high because the winner of the tournament gets an automatic quota for the Champions League.
In general, Can was expected to be absent for around six weeks because of damaged relationships in his ankle and many did not think he would play more by the end of the season. Apparently the former Bayer Leverkusen ace has recovered faster than expected, but the decision remains with Klopp.
