Marcello Lippi: I did not expect Zidane to become coach

Legendary Italian tactician Marcello Lippi said he was very surprised when he learned that his former player Zinedine Zidane plans to deal with coaching.

Lippi, who brought the last World Cup Football Italy never expected such a move from the former ace of Juventus, with whom he worked many years ago in Italy.

"I never thought that Zidane could become a coach," he admitted 67-year-old. "I trained players like Didier Deschamps, who knew I would be doing great on the bench. Zidane, however, it was definitely not in that category. "

"Having said that, however, I think he could do well at the head of a great team like Real Madrid. Zidane is familiar in detail with the psychology of the top players both in victory and in defeat. "

"I think it is too early to put its estimates. He stood at the post in the middle of the season, which is never easy. He needs to hold himself preparing the team and to forward their ideas. People will underestimate him, I'm sure of that. They focus on the fact that Cristiano is on the field and forget that Zidane's coach, "said Lippi.
