Discard Serbia out of Euro 2012?

The national team of Serbia can be thrown out of qualifying for Euro 2012 and other future tournaments after UEFA announced they will conduct a "thorough" investigation of incidents that surrounded the game between the float and Italy, says the Daily Mail.

We recall that the start of the qualifying match between two teams in Genoa was delayed by 35 minutes and only six minutes after the start of it - suspended after fans of the guests started throwing flares on the pitch.

After that ugly scene continued through the streets of the city, fans provoked clashes with the police and attacked bus of the Serbian team.

"As soon as we receive the full report of what happened with the help of referees and delegates, the case will be referred to the disciplinary committee of UEFA and the possible imposition of sanctions," said a statement of the European football body.

"The penalties which the Disciplinary Committee may impose can be seen in the disciplinary regulations of UEFA and can range from a reprimand or fine to close the stadium or disqualification of the ongoing and / or exclusion from future tournaments," warned UEFA.

We recall that the Italian police yesterday arrested 17 Serb supporters, while 16 people were injured, including two policemen. Serbian hooligans ringleader was arrested last night after being identified by his tattoos.

President of the Football Federation of Serbia Tomislav Karadzic said: "We had indications that this could happen. These fans are just performers, everything was planned in Belgrade. This has brought shame to our country. We had problems during workouts before the game and now this ... the state must respond.

Chief of security in the Italian FA Roberto Masuchi accused the authorities in Serbia that allowed hooligans to travel.
