Wenger: I lied press, but I have no qualms

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that sometimes it is nice to lie, says the Daily Mirror.

Shortly before his match № 800 head of Arsenal Frenchman reveals that the media is lying to protect someone a player.

Wenger was adamant that before doing so he must talk to that player to match the stories and no discrepancies in their words to the press.

"Yes, I lied to the press. I do not feel well after that, but my conscience is clean because if you need to do to protect a player - then it's for a good cause," said Wenger.

Recognition of the French specialist does not make it "black sheep" of football. Most managers save much of the truth.

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Wayne Rooney will be based around "two or three weeks" because of an ankle injury, but after a goalless draw between England and Montenegro in qualification for Euro 2012, football player himself insisted that he did not even a missed workout.

Fergie may have wanted to deflect attention from the weak form of Rooney and to protect it from attacks of the media, but receive feedback effect.

Wenger said: "Everyone is different. If you ask the players they want to play every three days, but if you ask managers sometimes feel that a player he should rest."

"If you ask me whether I ever lied to protect a player, my answer is yes. Consciousness of one player may be tired as well as his body. I can not give specific examples, but when false press always talk to players before , to no discrepancies in our speeches, "he said.
